Renewed in Every Move
Since arriving in the U.S. as a business representative of Samsung Company in 1981, I’ve moved seven times. Each relocation marked a new season—of calling, of growth, of surrender. The house I now live in was purchased in 2002, right after I was assigned to the Alliance Theological Seminary’s Nyack Campus. We left Manhattan behind and settled into this quiet space.
Yesterday, I replaced a broken laundry dryer. And as I stood in the basement, I realized: nearly every appliance in this house has been replaced—except the oven. Even the basement, once stained by Hurricane Sandy’s aftermath, has been restored this year into something clean and new.
And I wonder: if machines wear out and are replaced, what of the human heart? Can it be renewed, too?
Scripture whispers yes.
Therefore, we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day." (2 Cor 4:16, NIV)
The Spirit does not discard us. He restores. Not just parts, but the whole. Not just function, but beauty.
May every broken thing in us be touched by His renewing hand.
