Was it Xunzi in ancient China who claimed that human beings are inherently good? Nonsense. Just look at the way the world operates. No one in their right mind could make such a statement after seeing the reality around us. Every day, as I delete the endless stream of spam filling my inbox, I find myself lamenting how pervasive deceit has become and feeling the weight of human sinfulness.

Yesterday, for the first time in a while, I was assigned an online course to teach and tried to begin setting it up—only to discover that I couldn’t access anything because of the CANVAS hacking incident. I was practically pacing in frustration. If it were a course I had taught before, I could simply revise my existing welcome announcement and welcome video. But the problem is that this is a newly created course, and I have absolutely no materials to work with.

Truly, Scripture is right. Ever since the Fall, humanity has been born with a sinful nature.
