When I visited this forest last Thursday, I had barely walked ten minutes before a light drizzle began, forcing me to abandon my plan for a full hour’s hike and head home. Today, however, the weather was far more favorable—slightly overcast, the temperature just above 70 degrees—making it perfect for walking. So I decided to complete the red trail I had hoped to explore yesterday. As I noticed then, the recent rains have blessed the forest abundantly.
From the entrance onward, all kinds of mushrooms were pushing up through the soil and around the roots of trees. Two particular varieties—whose exact identity I still cannot determine—seemed to fill the forest floor. Even so, I was delighted to spot a few edible mushrooms I recognized. Most of all, two beautiful clusters of the cauliflower mushroom greeted me, a rare treasure that is highly prized in Korea. Seeing them felt like a special gift from God.
“The meadows clothe themselves with flocks; the valleys deck themselves with grain; they shout and sing together for joy.” (Psalm 65:13)
Truly, it was a day of blessing—one in which the Lord allowed me to taste the richness of His creation.
