Friends,
As many of you know, here in New Jersey, the weather shifted almost overnight. Since yesterday morning, it has felt fully like late autumn—crisp, chilly, and quietly sobering. I now find myself pulling out my winter jacket for my early walks, reminded that this season has a way of making our hearts draw inward. And when the air grows cold, the weight of upcoming assignments can press on us even more heavily. I feel it too.
In just two weeks, I will be traveling back to Korea for the first time since my hospitalization for emergency care. I will be visiting my elderly family members, sharing time together, and at the same time teaching two intensive courses at a seminary there—while continuing my LU online instruction. These two courses require full design and preparation from the ground up, and the workload has been significant. So please know: I understand your challenges deeply.
Yet I believe this is precisely the kind of moment when our faith is meant to rise. Seasons of difficulty often become the very places where we taste the goodness of God in new ways. The goals that feel too demanding for human strength are often the opportunities through which the Holy Spirit’s potential within us is most clearly revealed.
So let us fasten the belt of our hearts, steady our steps, and run the remainder of this faith‑race with perseverance and hope. Together, we will finish well.
Prof. Kim
